Workshop Workshop Description
Job Search Learn techniques to help you create a resume to display your skills and experiences; learn how to create a cover letter and thank you letter. Do you have interview anxiety or are you unsure how to prepare for an interview? Increase your confidence with our interview skills preparation where you will be asked questions that match your employment goal .
Job Search Network Participants of the Job Search Workshop are invited to do a meet and greet with each other to network, share job leads and get feedback about job search strategies, as well as learn new skills.
Career Transitions The workshop will assist individuals who need to change their career due to a disability, lay-off or job loss. This hands-on workshop includes career exploration activities that will help you make a realistic career decision.
Training Preparation This half day session is designed to assist people who are applying for Second Career funding for training. Instructions are provided to help you complete your research and you will be given the Training Research Package and all required application and financial forms.
Customer Service Learn the basics of customer service and how to successfully interact with customers, use a cash register and handle cash.
Introduction to Computers This four (4) part workshop will help you understand computer basics. You will learn about the keyboard and mouse, creating a document, the fundamentals of Excel, and the basics of using the Internet and email.
Safe Food Handling Taught in conjunction with the Region of Durham Department of Health, this course will prepare clients for writing the Department of Health exam to obtain their Safe Food Handling Certificate.
Reverse Job Search
(open to ODSP clients only)
ODSP clients will receive assistance with filling out application forms for different employers.
